Why Choose IGNOU for M.Phil Course

The MPhil is interesting because it’s given in many subjects. Even though a lot of research programs after your bachelor’s degree have this, MPhil doesn’t have a specific subject in its name. There are different kinds of MPhils, sometimes even in Arts and Humanities. MPhil is a general postgraduate degree that can help anyone in any subject. MPhil isn’t just for Philosophy, even though that’s its name. You can study MPhil in Law, Management, Economics, or Finance too.

Course Work – All the students who are admitted, have to do Course Work, as per the rules of IRCRDP. This Course Work gets 16 credits and takes at least one semester but can go up to two semesters (a year). If needed, the department can also suggest an extra course to learn more about the research area. Doing this Course Work is a must before starting M.Phil. In this Course Work, at least four credits are for Research Methodology. This can include learning how to do research, using computers, understanding ethics, and checking out other research. The other courses help students get ready for the M.Phil. degree.

Evaluation – The dissertation you write will be reviewed by your supervisor(s) and an external expert chosen by the Vice Chancellor. If needed, the Vice Chancellor might pick an expert from a common group. For passing the M.Phil. Program, you need at least 55% marks in every course, your dissertation, and the viva. If you don’t get enough marks in the dissertation, your supervisor will get the review and can help you fix it. After changes, the same examiner will check it again, and that report will be final. This can only happen once.

Dissertation – Once you finish the Course Work well, as an M.Phil. student, you’ll need to submit a Dissertation.
Before handing in the Dissertation:
– Each research student must show one research paper in a seminar or conference.
– As per the UGC Regulations of 2016, before submitting the Dissertation, the research scholar has to use anti-plagiarism software to check their work.

Syllabus – The website has all the study materials for IGNOU MPhil. You can download them for free. Remember, for the first six months, you need to go to classes in person. For appearing in the final exams, applicants must attend at least 80% of the classes.
