Candidates must satisfy ONE of the following academic qualification requirements for IGNOU Ph.D. in Psychology course:

Master’s Degree in Psychology or related field (e.g., Counselling Psychology, Applied Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, Health Psychology, Behavioural Science) from a UGC-recognized university or equivalent institution.
Minimum aggregate of 55% marks (or equivalent grade on a point scale) in the qualifying postgraduate degree.
Relaxation of 5% marks (i.e., 50% aggregate) for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / Differently-Abled / EWS candidates.
A valid UGC-NET score in Psychology is required for Categories I, II, and III. Category IV candidates can appear for IGNOU’s University-level Entrance Test.
Candidates with a 4-year / 8-semester undergraduate degree with 75% marks (70% for reserved categories) are eligible for direct PhD admission without a master’s degree as per UGC Regulations 2022.
