Candidates must satisfy ONE of the following academic qualification requirements for IGNOU Ph.D. in Research In Distance Education course:
- Master’s degree in ANY discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate AND a valid UGC-NET score. Master’s preferably in MADE (Master’s in Adult and Distance Education), MA (Education), or M.Ed. – though NET in any discipline is accepted.
- Candidates from SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PwD/EWS categories: 5% relaxation in minimum marks (i.e., minimum 50% marks).
- Candidates with 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree: Minimum 75% marks (70% for reserved categories) for direct Ph.D. eligibility.
- M.Phil. holders with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) from recognised universities are also eligible.
- Equivalent qualifications from foreign universities accredited by recognised quality assurance bodies are also accepted.
